Mayor Wayne Poston and political foe Bill Evers learned Tuesday night that they'll face each other in a runoff election - just like they did when they first ran against each other in 1999. Low turnout: A little more than a quarter of the 29,000 registered voters in the city went to the polls, according to the supervisor of elections office.
Evers served as mayor for 20 years until Poston, a former executive editor at the Bradenton Herald, challenged and beat him in 1999. Evers tried to oust Poston four years ago but the incumbent narrowly retained his elected office with 51 percent of the vote.
