Lineup Card Mistake Results in Grand Game as Rays Beat Cleveland 7-5 on May 17 at the Trop.

"Sunday's game would have been eventful enough, the Rays rallying for a 7-5 victory for their second three-game winning streak.

But that was after the manager screwed up the lineup card and the Rays had to play without the DH, the first AL team to do so in more than 30 years, forcing major-league RBI leader Evan Longoria to the bench and pitcher Andy Sonnanstine into the No. 3 spot in his place."

B.J. Upton's Walkoff Home Run Beats Indians, 8-7 at the Trop.

From Joe Smith, Times Staff Writer, Saturday, May 16, 2009:
The fans chanted "B.J. Upton!" as the struggling leadoff hitter came to bat in a tie game, and Upton had them on their feet after a walkoff homer to left on a 3-and-2 pitch, lifting the Rays to an improbable 8-7 win over the Indians in front of 25,827 at Tropicana Field...It was the largest deficit the Rays (17-20) have overcome in a victory in the club's 12-season history, having won after trailing by six five times (including once in their World Series run last season).
