Poetry, Praise, Disparagement-- "YOU PEOPLE ARE SCOUNDRELS."-Hillsborough BOCC

CAPTIONING.FEBRUARY 20, 2008.BOCC REGULAR MEETING.MORNING SESSION.

The February 20, 2008 meeting of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners included:
  • a poem read by James Tokley: "A MODERN MANIFESTO"[photo of Mr. Tokley and the largest poem ever produced and posted in the history of the world above];
  • multiple concerns from the disability community about the failure of notification on testing new voting machines;
  • MARILYN SMITH on the high cost of communication staff, the sheriff's office treatment of people with disabilities and failure to follow up on grants for affordable housing; and
  • a request for support for a proclamation for Confederate memorial day.

The comment period ended with one speaker stating, "You people are scoundrels."

The BOCC transcript is always good rainy day reading.
