Democrat Sasso wins special election in House #32 to replace Allen

Florida Today reports: Democrat Tony Sasso tonight has won a close special election to replace Bob Allen in the Florida House, according to unofficial results.

"I'm ready," said Sasso, who celebrated with supporters at a Cocoa Beach hotel. "I'm excited about going up to Tallahassee and getting to work and doing some good things."

Republican Sean Campbell of Merritt Island called Sasso to concede after 9 p.m., a Campbell campaign spokesman said. Sasso of Cocoa Beach was ahead by more than 400 votes with all precincts reporting and only a dozen provisional ballots uncounted.

Sasso carried about 48 percent of the vote to win the District 32 seat representing parts of Brevard and Orange counties, compared with 46 percent for Campbell.

"Tony Makes Nine," blogged
Rep. Dan Gelber FL Minority Leader.
