Mahoney is raising a ton of money - more than $500,000 by the end of April. He's also kept a busy district schedule, attending just about any event he can when not in Washington.
``Tim Mahoney is doing great. He's doing very well in terms of solidifying his support within the district,'' said Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who chairs the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Mahoney also sits on the House Financial Services Committee, a position he can boast about in a district that has been slammed with hurricanes in the past few years. Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., asked him to help craft a bill that would create a national catastrophe insurance fund, a measure that could be a huge help to his constituents.
``I told people that homeowners insurance, I was going to do something about it. It was a big victory for me to get a commitment on the part of the chairman of the committee and the leadership to move legislation on it,'' Mahoney said.
